Two ways. Click the AiRT icon in your Chrome toolbar and press Open, or click the small floating AiRT launcher button that appears on Google Workspace pages. Either one opens the side panel; nothing takes over your tab. If you don't see the toolbar icon, click the puzzle-piece Extensions button in Chrome and pin AiRT.
1) Set up your question banks. A question bank is just a Google Form whose page-break sections are named by standard — for example RL.6.1. Every question under that section becomes part of that standard's bank.
2) Open the side panel and choose Quiz Maker, then select one or more banks from your Drive.
3) Check the standards you want to test and set how many random questions to pull from each. If two banks name the same standard slightly differently, select both rows and click Combine.
4) Build. A brand-new Google Form appears in your Drive, with images and image answer choices carried over. Run it again for an entirely different retake version.
Choose Analysis Report in the side panel and pick a quiz Form that already has responses. AiRT generates a multi-tab Google Sheet in your Drive covering performance by standard, by student, by question, suggested reteaching groups, and a Texas-curve view. Students are grouped by class period, then sorted by last name and first name.
The auto-gradable ones: multiple choice, checkbox, and dropdown — including question images and image answer choices. Free-response items aren't pulled into generated quizzes, because they can't be scored automatically for the report.
So you can open the side panel from where you're already working instead of hunting for the toolbar. It is a button and nothing more: it reads no page content, and it stores nothing except where you dragged it to on the screen, saved locally on your own device.
Yes. Switch on Post to Google Classroom and AiRT will list your active courses and create a draft assignment linking to the quiz — drafts only, so nothing reaches students until you publish it yourself. Classroom access is only requested the first time you turn that switch on; if you never use it, AiRT never asks.
No Google API can turn Locked Mode on, so no extension can do it for you. AiRT applies everything it can (quiz mode plus verified email, which requires sign-in) and then shows a short checklist for finishing the setup in Forms or Classroom. Posting the quiz to Classroom is the intended path for a locked quiz.
Your save folder, question bank folder, class periods, and proficiency band thresholds all persist between sessions, stored locally in your browser profile. None of these settings contain student data.
Yes. AiRT runs no servers, so there is nowhere for student data to go. Names, emails, responses, and scores are read from your Form only while a report is running, held in memory for that operation, and written straight into a Google Sheet in your own Drive. Nothing is retained, nothing is sold, and nothing is used for advertising. The full details are in our Privacy Policy.
Make sure you're signed in to Chrome with the Google Account that owns your Forms. On a managed school account, an administrator may need to allow the extension for your domain. Revoking access at myaccount.google.com/permissions and signing in again clears most stale-token problems.
Quiz Maker reads standards from a Form's page-break section titles. If a section has no title, or the questions sit above the first section break, they won't be grouped under a standard. Add or rename the section in the Form and reload the bank.
The titles differ by a space, a hyphen, or capitalization. Check both rows in the wizard and click Combine to merge them for this quiz.
When a quiz draws on more than one bank, images are briefly copied to a hidden folder in your Drive so the Google Forms API can import them, then deleted automatically. If your Drive is full or an image lives in a file you can't copy, that import can fail. Free up space or check that you have access to the source Form, then rebuild.
The analysis keys on the collected email address and, optionally, a period question in the Form. Make sure the Form is set to collect email addresses and that students answered the period question.
